Absences
Absences
It is a legal requirement that the school maintains an accurate record of all student absences by marking class rolls daily. Under the ACT Education Act 2004, it is the responsibility of parents or carers to report their child’s absences to the school.
Class rolls are marked between 9.00am and 9:15am each day. It is important that children are in attendance at the beginning of the school day to maximise learning opportunities.
How to notify a student absence
If your child is absent, please inform the Front Office by emailing curtinps.absences@ed.act.edu.au or calling 6142 2570. If you call, you will need to confirm the absence via email.
If you know your child will be absent at a future date, please email curtinps.absences@ed.act.edu.au and the front office will inform their class teacher.
If children are absent without explanation, administration staff will contact parents as via an SMS message. Please reply as soon as possible or it will be marked as an unexplained absence. Unexplained absences of more than three days will be followed up with parents.
Students arriving after 9.00am
Any children arriving after 9.00am will need to go via the Front Office to ensure they are marked on the attendance roll.
Collecting students during the day
If you wish to collect your child early from school, please call the front office on 6142 2570. Your child’s teacher will then be notified and your child will meet you at the front office.
Allergy Aware School
Curtin Primary is an allergy aware school which requests that nuts and nut products are not brought onto the school grounds due to the inclusion of students with life threatening anaphylactic allergic conditions.
Please support us and ensure your child does not bring food which contains nuts such as peanut butter, Nutella, chocolate, muesli bars, snacks containing peanuts or items cooked in peanut oil.
General policy is that children do not share foods unless prior arrangements with staff are made.
We appreciate your support. If you have any concerns or questions about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
