The Curtin Primary Canteen is open five days a week until 1pm. The canteen has a paid manager but relies on the school community for volunteers to help out once a month for approximately two to three hours. The manager is responsible to the canteen committee, which consists of parents from the school who are interested in assisting with the running of the canteen. New members to the committee are always welcome.
Volunteers start at 9am to get lunch preparations underway, serve children recess at 10.30 and then continue with lunches until about 12.30. Sandwiches are prepared and additional items placed in lunch bags after recess, ready to be picked up at 12.30.
We try to have two volunteers each day and hopefully three on a Friday. Young children are always welcome and we have a toy box available for them.
The canteen sells a mix of healthy and popular types of food. A list of all items will be sent home at the beginning of each term. Special days and a copy of the canteen roster for the following weeks are included in each week's newsletter which comes home on a Wednesday.
Students love to see their parents helping out at school. If you can spare 2-3 hours per month we would love to see you in the canteen. Please let Lizzy in the canteen know if you are available to assist. We are lucky to still have a successful canteen and with everyone's help it can stay this way. Canteen orders can be placed in baskets in the children's classroom each morning or via the Flexischools website.
NB: Flexischools is an on-line ordering system that enables the purchase of recess and lunch orders through the canteen and the purchase of uniforms. It is free to join and easy to use.
